Amargar y Pica translates to bitter and spicy which perfectly describes this complex award winning olive oil which is produced in the highest olive groves of Spain. Not for the faint hearted, this is an unfiltered, cold pressed early harvest extra virgin olive oil with a unique depth of taste.
Los Montes de Granada are situated to the North West of Granada city and reach an altitude of over 1500ms above sea level, this altitude causes extreme temperature ranges in the spring and harvest time in the autumn, these factors in combination with the arid soil produces an aromatic deep lime coloured oil with a hint of bitterness and a touch of spice and is highly regarded by oil connoisseurs globally.
Extra virgin olive oil requires on average 7-8 kgs of olives to produce 1 litre. Early harvest olive oils are gathered and extracted 2-3 months earlier thus giving a drier olive with a more concentrated taste. Amarga Y Pica requires approx 15 kgs of olives to produce 1 litre.
Once extracted, the oil is stored in specially built stainless steel storage drums which are scientifically monitored to ensure you enjoy the freshest olive oil possible. Our oils are stored until the moment that an order is placed and is then bottled and transported. We believe there are no fresher olive oils for sale in northern Europe. Buen provecho!
